Garry Sanfacon - Garry for Boulder County Commissioner

Dear Boulder County Resident,

My name is Garry Sanfaçon (pronounced San-fa-sawn) and I’m a candidate for Boulder County Commissioner, District 1. I’ve been an active member of the Boulder County community for two decades, working to protect the environment, support human services and enhance our quality of life.

We owe our special quality of life to Boulder County’s rich history of visionary thinkers. You and I are the stewards of that legacy. We must continue to protect and enhance our natural and built environments, as well as provide support to our fellow citizens impacted by the economy or otherwise in need. I agree with Senator Paul Wellstone, “we all do better when we all do better.”

Today, Boulder County is under pressure to conform to the status quo. I say we must transform, continuing to build on Boulder County’s history of visionary leadership - from elected officials and citizens alike, and leave a legacy of local self-reliance and true sustainability. I commit to bold, progressive leadership and to see that citizens are more involved in the decision-making process.

I’ve worked with all sectors and geographic areas of the county - as the Fourmile Fire Recovery Manager; Vice-Chair, Boulder County Planning Commission; volunteer with the Boulder County Democrats, from Precinct Leader to Vice Chair; Executive Director of the Peak to Peak Healthy Communities Project; business owner; and community organizer.

My depth of knowledge gained through first-hand experience, as well as my deep-rooted relationships with leaders throughout the county, in the public, private and non-profit sectors, will enable me to hit the ground running.
